INUA + Architecture: An intro to SketchUp and Design

This workshop will showcase the proposal and process of INUA, Qauamjuq's inaugural exhibition designed by Nicole Luke, a recent Inuk Masters of Architecture graduate. The exhibition was designed alongside INUA's co curators and the WAG. Nicole will guide viewers through her process of working with SketchUp, a common 3D program used within architecture school, and will provide a tutorial on the basics of SketchUp and the exhibition design. To conclude, Nicole will also present some of her school projects to represent SketchUp as a powerful tool for creativity and design. This workshop is open to all. Stay until the end for a Q&A session!

The workshop will take place online using Zoom. Upon registering for the workshop, you will receive instructions on how to use Zoom. This workshop, like every ISO series workshop, is free.

About Nicole Luke:

Nicole is an urban Inuk who is passionate about culture and design. Born in Yellowknife, NWT, Nicole is originally from the Kivalliq region of Nunavut where her family resides. She has lived in Winnipeg for the majority of her life and received her Bachelor Degree of Environmental Design at the University of Manitoba in 2019. She is currently pursuing her Masters in the Department of Architecture and plans to graduate in the Spring of 2021. She aspires to become one of the first Inuit architects. Due to her exposure of urban areas, she is focused on the design realities communities face within rural and non-rural areas and believes the built environment is a key factor to socio-economic agency. She is committed to indigenous initiatives and well being as well as sustainable building practices. Nicole continually exposes herself to learning opportunities and hopes to expose youth in northern communities to greater education related to the design field.
