Sense of Seal
Sense of Seal
April 3rd 2024
CIMADE Lab, NSCAD University
Halifax, NS
Hosted by Ilinniaqtuk Inuujaq Leslie Fredlund, this open concept workshop invited participants to learn about the story, use, and care of sealskin, and how we can use this material in a way that honours the seal. Particpants used sealskin in creating earrings, bracelets, as collage pieces, and the lining of an eagle feather box.
This workshop was offered to Indigenous students, staff, and faculty at NSCAD University, presented by Inuit Futures in Arts Leadership and NSCAD University (Centre for inter-Media Arts and Decolonial Expression Lab.)
