On Sunday evening at 6:30pm EST/ 7:30pm Atlantic, Haana-SikSik (Melo) Lavallee hosted an intimate Stitch’ Bitchin’ Craft Circle, where participants were invited to join the live session and work on whatever projects they wanted to start or finish!

This workshop used Zoom. This workshop, like every De-ICE-olation workshop, is free.

Haana-SikSik (Melo) Lavallée is a professional artist and filmmaker who was born and raised in Nunavut; she now resides in New Brunswick while she pursues postsecondary studies. Most of her adult life had been spent working in Natural Resources and Parks, until eight years ago when she decided to bring her artistic spirit to life. Today, much of her creative work comes from four places: internal struggle, internal growth, a deep love or need to protect, a lesson. Her resulting works, whatever the medium, are often dark, moody and beautiful. Melo is self-taught in in many craft and sewing practices; she has made kamiit, beaded necklaces, dolls, crocheted sweaters, and sews clothing, and has sewn entire sealskin garments by hand.  Haana-SikSik has had two gallery shows at the Beaverbrook Art Museum, has been in featured in many magazines, and has directed, acted and edited short movies and documentaries. She has also illustrated one children’s book in Inuktut about colours.
